Privacy Policy
The short version: we collect what the service needs to work, plus basic analytics so we know how people find us. We never sell your data, we don't show ads, and we never collect your location.
1. What we collect
Your account. Your email address, first name, timezone and currency, and your password (stored hashed, never in plain text).
Your commitments. Wake-up times, deadlines, stake amounts, when you checked in, and whether each commitment was kept or charged.
Your proof tasks. The names you give them (like "Kitchen") and the words or characters printed on them, so we can check what you type in the morning. The names are labels you choose, not locations, and we never access your device's location.
Payments. Card details go directly to Stripe, our payment processor. We store a reference token, the card type and its last four digits, and a record of each charge and membership payment. We never see or store your full card number.
Support. Messages you send us through Get Help, the contact form or email.
How you found us. If you arrived from an ad or a link with tracking parameters, we record the ad click id or campaign, the page you landed on and the site that referred you, and save that against your account when you sign up. It's never updated afterwards. We use it to see which advertising works.
Technical records. Your IP address, browser and device type, and security logs, including failed login attempts (the email tried, the IP address and its approximate location, and the browser), so we can spot attacks on accounts.
2. Cookies and analytics
We use a cookie to keep you logged in, and a first-party cookie on wakeupearly.com that remembers where you came from for up to 90 days, so that a sign-up can be matched to the ad or link that led to it.
We use Google Analytics and Google Ads on www.wakeupearly.com and app.wakeupearly.com. They tell us which pages people visit, which buttons they click, and whether a visit from an ad led to a sign-up, a first commitment, a first check-in or a paid membership. Google sets its own cookies for this and handles that data under Google's privacy policy. You can block these with a browser setting or extension, and the service still works.
We don't show ads on our site or in the app, and we don't track you across other websites.
3. What we use it for
Running the service: enforcing your deadlines in the right timezone, checking your proof task answers, charging stakes and membership exactly as you agreed, and emailing you about your account and commitments (confirmations, reminders, outcomes, trial and billing notices). Answering your support requests. Keeping the service secure. Understanding, in aggregate, how people use the product and how they find it, so we can improve both.
4. Who else touches your data
Four service providers, each only for its job and each receiving only what it needs: Stripe (payments and membership billing), SendGrid (sending our emails), DigitalOcean (hosting), and Google (analytics and advertising measurement, as described above).
We don't sell or rent your data to anyone. We only disclose it beyond these providers if the law requires us to.
5. Email
We email you about your account and your commitments. We don't send marketing newsletters. We've turned off click tracking in our emails, so the links you tap are clean.
6. Keeping and deleting it
We keep your data while your account is active, and financial records for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Security logs are kept for a limited time and then removed.
To access, correct or delete your data, or to close your account, email [email protected] and we'll handle it promptly. A commitment that has already locked stands until it resolves, and we keep the payment records the law requires.
7. Security
Passwords are stored hashed, all traffic is encrypted in transit, and access to production data is limited to the people who run the service. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever learn of a breach affecting your data, we'll tell you.
8. Your rights and where we operate
Wake Up Early is operated from Australia and handles personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. You can ask to see what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, and you can complain to us or to your local privacy regulator.
If you use the service from elsewhere (like the US, Canada, the UK or the EU), you keep whatever rights your local privacy law gives you. Email us and we'll honour them. Your data may be stored and processed in countries other than your own, through the providers listed above.
The service is for adults. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
9. Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll email you before the change takes effect. Questions about your data: [email protected].
