No card needed to start. You add a card before your first commitment. From day 8 it is billed US$5 a month for membership, and it is only charged a stake if you miss a check-in.
You choose your stake
When you make a commitment, you choose the amount on the line. Nothing is charged when you commit. What happens next depends on one thing:
- Check in before your deadline
- Your stake is not charged.
- Miss your deadline
- Your stake is charged and donated to Doctors Without Borders.

Billing questions
Do I need a card to start the trial?
No. You add a card before your first commitment, because a stake needs a card to charge. From day 8 the same card is billed for membership. You can add a second card for the membership if you prefer.
What happens when the trial ends?
If you have saved a card, membership billing starts on day 8. We email you 3 days before. If you have not saved a card, you cannot create new commitments until you subscribe. A commitment already running continues to its deadline, and you can always check in.
Are stakes charged during the free trial?
Yes. The trial waives the membership fee only. A missed check-in during the trial charges the stake in the same way as any other.
How much can I stake?
The presets are $10, $25 and $50. You can enter any amount from $2 to $500. Nothing is charged when you make the commitment.
Which currency am I billed in?
The currency set from your time zone at signup. You can change it in Settings. Membership and stakes are both charged in that currency.
What happens if I cancel?
Cancelling stops future membership charges. Your access continues to the end of the month you have paid for. A commitment already running continues to its deadline, and a missed check-in still charges its stake.
Where do forfeited stakes go?
100% of every forfeited stake is donated to Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières). Donations are made monthly. Refunded or disputed stakes are excluded.
I missed my check-in, but it wasn't my fault. What do I do?
Use the Get Help page in the app and choose "My commitment failed but it wasn't my fault". If the miss was caused by something outside your control, such as an app issue, we review it and refund the stake in full.
